BAY ST. LOUIS — Two Coast elections Tuesday resulted in an incumbent’s defeat and a seat still undetermined.

A runoff between Philip Moran and Tony Wayne Ladner is set for Nov. 24 for the Hancock County District 5 supervisor seat.

In unofficial results from Hancock County Circuit Clerk Karen Ruhr, Moran led with 527 votes to Ladner’s 287.

A candidate needed 50 percent plus one vote to be declared a clear winner.

Others seeking to fill the unexpired term of the late Jay Cuevas were Darrin “Bo” Ladner with 246 votes, Joe Pettigrew with 241, John Barnett with 195, Danny White with 33 and Wanda Ladner with 32. Ruhr said the race brought a “low turnout” of voters.

About 6,200 residents are registered to vote in District 5, she said.

In the race for the Jackson County School Board’s District 5 seat, Troy Frisbee beat incumbent Thomas Tootle with 66 percent of the vote in unofficial results, said Election Commissioner Danny Glaskox.

Frisbee had 259 votes to Tootle’s 131, he said.
