Nothing could be more meaningful than what Scott Pfaff’s own students said after he received the $25,000 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award last week.

Pfaff has taught physics at Gulfport High for the past six years.

“He explains it so well, and he entertains us,” senior Claire Caldwell said. “He’s the best teacher I’ve ever had.”

“He wants to make sure we get something out of it,” added senior Molly Atherton. “It’s all about us, not him.”

The foundation calls its awards “the Oscars of teaching.”

By all accounts, Pfaff’s performance in the classroom is richly deserving of one.
