BAY ST. LOUIS — Residents of Shoreline Park are dealing with rising water in advance of Tropical Storm Ida as dark approaches.

John Albert Evans, deputy director of the Hancock County Emergency Management Agency, said crews are out surveying the area and anyone who needs help can call the EMA office at 466-8320 or local law enforcement.

Shoreline Park encompasses a large area in Bay St. Louis, Waveland and rural Hancock County.

Water is now covering the road on a couple of streets and residents around 4 p.m. began moving their cars to higher ground on Mississippi 603.

Jim Mistretta walked through the waters to meet his wife, Rosalind, late this afternoon as she returned home from an eye appointment. The couple said they plan to ride out Tropical Storm Ida at their home on stilts.
