School PTO official charged with embezzlement

A Jackson County woman has been charged with embezzling $3,000 from the East Central Parent Teacher Organization, the Jackson County Sheriff's office has said.

Michelle Thomas Richardson, 35, of Big Point, was president of the East Central Upper Elementary PTO and had control of the organization's account when $3,000 came up missing, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.

She is being held at the Jackson County jail pending an initial appearance.
