MGCCC Fall Concert

The Jefferson Davis Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will present its Fall Concert in the JD Fine Arts Auditorium at 7 p.m. Oct. 29. The program will feature the Jefferson Davis Singers and Coastal Vibrations. Admission is free.

Art classes opening soon

The Handsboro Community Center will host art classes from 2 to 4 p.m., beginning Nov. 3. Cost: $45 for six classes.

GLT’s ‘Bah, Humbug’

The Gulfport Little Theatre’s Showbiz Kidz will present “Bah, Humbug” at 7 p.m. Nov. 6-7 and 13-14 at the theatre, 2600 13th Ave., Gulfport. The show also will be presented at 3 p.m. Nov. 8 and 15. A special performance will run at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military and $8 for students and children.

‘A Few Good Men’

The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre will present “A Few Good Men” at 8 p.m. Nov. 6-8 and 12-14 at the Waveland Civic Center, Waveland. Tickets are $10, and $5 for military veterans and active military. The show also will be presented at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center on Dec. 3-4.

‘Oliver!’ at KNS

Tickets are now on sale for KNS Theatre’s production of ‘Oliver!”, to be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13-14 and 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Saenger Theatre in Biloxi. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $17 for students 12 and under, seniors and military.

Star Quest awards

The Gulfport Little Theatre recently presented awards for its Star Quest 2009 Talent Show. Awards were given in four divisions.

George Deal Jr., Emily Naghshpour and Rory Johnson won in the pre-teen division. Maria Turnage, Amber Murphy and Olivia Russell won in the teen division. Jay Jones won in the adult division. Bryce Russel and Maria Turnage took first place in the duo division. Amber and Jayme Murphy took second place.

Ohr Gala at Beau Rivage

The eighth annual George Ohr Gala will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, Biloxi. The gala benefits the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art. The event will feature cocktails, silent auction, dinner and a performance by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

Negrotto’s exhibit

Negrotto’s Gallery, Biloxi, will host an exhibit for West African Artist Lamin Dibba, of Gambia, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12. The event is sponsored by Sock Enterprises Inc. and Naomi’s Catering. A book signing also will be held with author Leon Walker, signing copies of his book “Work Wonders.”

Davies wins award

Judy Davies of Gautier won the 2009 Mississippi Senior Poet Laureate Award for her poem entitled “Artistry.” Davies also plays the French horn and manages a music publishing business for husband, Ken Davies.

WINGS performance

The WINGS Performing Arts Program of the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center will present “Appalachian Twelfth Night” at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 and 4 p.m. Nov. 15. Pre-show music begins at 1 p.m., featuring The Gulf Coast Fiddlers, Molleye Ladner, Wing and a Prayer and The Forresters. Performance begins at 2:15 p.m. Tickets are $2 per person for the pre-show and $5 per person for the performance.
