Who: Following are winners of 20 awards presented by show judge Collier Parker of Delta State University in Cleveland.
Five excellence awards of $400 each went to: Sandra Halat for ‘Roman Pigeon,’ Sadako Lewis for ‘Time Without Beginning,’ Max Flandorfer for ‘Embers of Today,’ Mary Hardy for ‘Blurred Memory’ and M. C. Drake for ‘Shadows in Cobalt Blue.’
Ten Special Awards for exceptional work in specific areas, sponsored by local businesses and individuals, were won by: Catie Manduca for ‘Coneflowers,’ the Walter I. Anderson Award for expression of man’s personal relationship with the natural world; Mary Hardy for ‘Empty Presense,’ the judge’s award of excellence; Mary-Pat Forrest for ‘The Chef,’ the John David Vialet Figurative Art Award for most academic art in any medium that represents the human figure; Gilda Seymour for ‘Pelican Brief,’ expressionism; Ellen Reeve for ‘The Piano Player,’ abstract or non-objective painting; Catie Manduca for ‘Blue Violet,’ the Peter Anderson Memorial Potter’s Award for beauty and uniqueness in pottery and glaze;
Carolyn Busenlener for ‘Mississippi Fish,’ acrylic or oil; Paulette Dove, ‘Courtyard,’ mixed media; Barbara Allen, ‘What a Drag,’ black and white photograph; and Michael West, ‘Porte Rouge,’ color photograph.
Judge’s special awards went to Betty Sinclair Magee for ‘Spider Warts,’ Susie Ranager for ‘Ladies Social,’ Susie Ranager for ‘Watershed,’ Amanda Schmidt for ‘Eye Fly,’ and Mary Anderson Pickard for ‘Eggplant.’
