HATTIESBURG -- Former Harrison County jailer Ryan Teel testified this morning that he did not use excessive force against inmate Kasey Dion Alves during his trial in federal court.

Teel, who is on trial with former co-worker Rick Gaston, will testify after a break about Jessie Lee Williams Jr. Williams died two days after an assault in the booking room at the jail on Feb. 4, 2006.

When Teel's attorney rests his case, testimony begins for Gaston's defense. The trial could end this week.
