BILOXI – Former Sea Wolves forward Radek Smolenak has been recalled to the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning and will join the club in Philadelphia for tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

A native of Prague, Czech Republic, Smolenak appeared in 19 games in the 2007-08 for the Sea Wolves, scoring seven goals and eight assists and earning a -1 rating.

“We’re very pleased to see Radek get recalled to the Tampa Bay Lightning and get a chance in the National Hockey League,” said Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. “He’s a very talented kid who developed his game at the ECHL level, and that’s something that our current players can look at and use to motivate themselves towards the same goal.”

The Sea Wolves host the Augusta Lynx this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Great seats are available. Friday’s game will feature the opening ceremonies for the 2008 Mississippi Bowl. The Sea Wolves will be collecting canned food to benefit local food banks as well as military essentials for our troops deployed overseas.
