It came down to the New Orleans Saints and the St. Louis Rams for cornerback Ron Bartell, and the Saints lost out.

Bartell agreed to a contract with the Rams on Monday, a league source confirmed, after visiting with the Saints last weekend. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Bartell received a four-year, $28 million deal with $13.6 million in guaranteed money.

There's no word yet if the Saints have any visits set up with other free agent cornerbacks.

Meanwhile, Vikings free agent safety Darren Sharper was set to arrive in New Orleans today and stay overnight into tomorrow. The 33-year-old safety is the second player of his position to sit down with the Saints; Jaguars free agent safety Gerald Sensabaugh wrapped up his visit Sunday.
