The New Orleans Saints didn't wait long to set up their first free agent visitor.

Rams cornerback Ron Bartell will be coming to New Orleans later today to visit with the Saints this weekend, the team confirmed.

Bartell, 27, has been a starter in St. Louis for much of the last two seasons after being a second-round pick by the Rams in 2005. Last season, Bartell had three interceptions and 57 total tackles. His three interceptions occurred in the final four games in 2008 and eight picks in the last three seasons.

According to Sports Illustrated, the Rams tried to persuade Bartell to stay as they were willing to give him $6 million per season. The team was willing to part ways, though, if another team would pay Bartell more money.
