Brian Dozier and Michael Ewing helped Southern Miss come from behind to beat Houston 7-6 Sunday in Hattiesburg.
Dozier lined a bases loaded two-RBI single to right field to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning and Ewing came in to score on a throwing error by Houston catcher Austin Goolsby.
Southern Miss (31-13, 9-6 Conference USA) swept the series.
"I could not be happier for our players right now," Southern Miss coach Corky Palmer said. "We are playing short-handed with some injuries and still finding a way to win ballgames."
Houston (26-17, 8-7 Conference USA) had tied the game and later retook the lead with solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings by Bryan Tully and Jake Stewart.
J.R. Ballinger (4-0) worked 22/3 scoreless innings, allowing only two hits to pick up the fourth win of the season.
Mississippi State 7, Tennessee 3 - A Grant Hogue RBI-double sparked a four-run seventh inning and helped break a 3-3 tie as Mississippi State beat Tennessee in Starkville.
Hogue smashed his double through a vacant hole next to the second base bag for the Bulldogs' (18-26, 6-15 Southeastern Conference) first conference series victory of the year.
Arkansas 12, Ole Miss 4 - The long ball proved to be the Rebels undoing on Saturday as No. 21 Ole Miss lost the second game of a doubleheader Saturday night to Arkansas.
Arkansas (28-17, 11-10 in the SEC) used five home runs through two games to claim the series and tie Ole Miss for first place in the SEC West.
Ole Miss (28-17, 11-10 SEC) managed double-digit hits in both games, but left 20 men stranded in the two games combined. The Rebels also committed five errors on the day in the losses.
LSU 6, South Carolina 3 - LSU used the long ball to beat South Carolina in Baton Rouge.
Derek Helenihi, DJ LeMahieu and Jared Mitchell each hit a home run for the Tigers (28-16-1, 9-11-1) who swept the Gamecocks (31-14, 11-10) in the three-game weekend series.
LeMahieu's two-run homer in the fourth put LSU in the lead for good at 3-1.
Alabama 17, Auburn 7 - Three consecutive home runs by Matt Bentley, Tyler Odle and Jake Smith in a five-run seventh inning highlighted Alabama's victory over Auburn.
Alabama (25-21, 10-11 Southeastern Conference) in the rainy series finale scored nine runs between the first two innings and Auburn (24-21, 8-13 SEC) could never recover. Mike Bianucci led the Tigers' 15-hit attack with three hits and scored three runs.
Kentucky 3, Vanderbilt 1 - Sawyer Carroll's two out, two-run triple in the top of the fifth inning broke a 1-1 tie, helping Kentucky stop Vandy.
