A tropical wave in the central Atlantic is showing signs of forming into a depression, possibly even a tropical storm by Tuesday, according to meteorologists at AccuWeather and Weather Underground.
The wave, dubbed L 94, is about 650 miles east of the Lesser Antillies and is moving west at about 15 knots.
Satellite imagery shows spiralling bands beginning to form and AccuWeather’s Bob Smerbeck and Eric Wanenchak expect it could be a depression later today.
Weather Underground’s Jeff Masters reports that the Hurricane Hunters from Keesler Air Force Base will make their first flight through 94L on Tuesday afternoon.
Masters also said some computer models predict the wave could develop into a hurricane in about four days.
