-- That's racing

• If you want to see a race track, sit on one of the side streets waiting for the light on the new Back Bay Boulevard - no less than 90 miles an hour. My, my, what a sight.

Put a cap on it

• Concerning the price of gasoline: During World War II, we had price control. Why can't we have that now? I realize the price of oil is up, but the oil companies are making huge profits. The consumer needs some relief.

Thanks, Eudora

• Eudora, I don't know who you are, but you found my checkbook in the Winn-Dixie parking lot. Thank you very much. There are some honest people.

Beware of AC thief

• I 'd just like to thank the person who stole my air conditioner window unit out of my home while I was gone working both of my jobs. Now my wife and my two kids have no air conditioning. I hope they get good use out of it. People, be aware. This was in North Biloxi - keep an eye out.

Welcome sight

• I'd like to thank the Biloxi Police Department for being there to write tickets on Atkinson Road. They need to keep it up. They need to do U.S. 90, too. It's getting ridiculous. We never see police. We need more on 90 and keep it up on Atkinson.

Rail saving

• With the price of gas rocketing out of control, why not have a few passenger cars put into use for people to use to get back and forth to work with designated stops such as Biloxi, Gulfport and Bay St. Louis? In my case, have the company make stops to pick up their people at the depot that's been designated. This would save a lot of people a lot of money.

Helping hand

• My truck went dead at a stoplight in the left lane of U.S. 90 in Ocean Springs today. I turned on my hazards and sat there helpless for about five minutes as extremely rude people whizzed or swerved around me honking their horns, shouting profanities at me or flipping me off as my two young children were sitting in the back seat. I was on the verge of a breakdown myself when I noticed a truck parked behind me, and two very kind men jumped out to push me off the busy road. I was very grateful, and they even promised to be back with some jumper cables. So, to them... Thank you! To everyone else... I could think of many things to say to you... many of which you yelled at me. But I will just say this - in the future, try lending a helping hand to someone in need.

Permits?

• OK, I have asked this before and now I'm asking again: Where do we get race car driving permits to drive down Darby Street? The speed limit is supposed to be 20 mph, but dang burn it, it would be a road hazard driving that slow. And just one more thing about Darby. Where do we get special permits to play our music loud enough to vibrate windows? I want one, because I do not want to pay the fine the city imposes. There is a special permit for this, right?

Pass police on patrol

• Just wanted to say thank you to the Pass Christian Police Department for actually making a visual effort in enforcing their city's traffic laws, as the stupidity of a lot of drivers increases putting the safety of not only other motorists in peril but also people like myself who very often must perform work off the shoulder of roadways. Pass Christian is the only city I see patrol officers diligently performing the job with which they have been entrusted. I'm not saying other police departments are not doing the same, I just see it more in the Pass than in other cities, and, well, perception is reality.

Thanks for doing such a difficult job so great.

Slow down save gas

• This morning at work a bunch of my co-workers were complaining about how much it cost them to fill up. The funny thing is I see these same people driving to and from work each day driving 20-25 mph over the posted speed limit. If you want to save gas slow down. I drive the speed limit in the right-hand lane and save half a tank of gas each week. It still costs me more to fill up, but I'm using less gas. So stop whining about the cost and slow down. You will be amazed at how much gas you can save by driving the speed limit.
