• This is to thank the wonderful woman who followed me out of the Chevron at Beauvoir and Pass Road on Monday to give me a $100 bill I had dropped. You've given me the gift of belief in the human race. Thank you so very much. God bless you.

You get what you settle for

• It makes me upset to keep hearing these mothers talk about how bad their children are. If you expect your children to be bad, then they will be. But if you demand respect and manners from your children, then you'll get it. Try being a parent. Quit giving excuses. Maybe you need to demand something out of your children. Let's make our kids grow up to be something important in this world. Yes, mom, this reflects back on you. If you demand nothing from them, you'll get nothing out of them.

Symbol of strength

• I feel sorry for the caller who compared the beer bottle to the S.S. Camille. How inconsiderate and uncompassionate. The S.S. Camille was a symbol of survival and recovery. It echoed the theme of 1969 that we may be down, but we're not out. The Gulf Coast is a strong community, and it was a symbol of that strength.

In my prayers

• I just would like to offer my deepest sympathies to the families of those three children. My heart aches. May God help you with your pain. I will be praying for you.

Great tribute

• What a beautiful, courageous lady Lynette Meyers of Ocean Springs is. Painting murals in the children's ward for sick children is such a labor of love. A beautiful tribute to her daughter, which can be enjoyed by so many.

Train the cats

• Don't put anything around a cat's neck; it's far too dangerous. Cats climb trees and they can easily hang themselves. Not to mention any kind of a sonic device will drive them insane. Cats are very smart and easily trained. All it takes is a little patience.

Come get cane

• I found a cane in the Dollar Tree parking lot today and I just wanted to say if anybody lost one there, we turned it in to the clerk inside.

Let the sun shine

• Sheriff Brisolara has concerns about putting information about misdemeanors on the Internet and also has concerns about the disposition of the charges. Does the magic computer at the jail and the public computer at the library take care of those problems? Two words: Sunshine Law.

Eagles everywhere

• Well, I agree. The Pascagoula River is majestic. But it's not the only place where there are majestic bald eagles. They're right here in Davis Bayou in Ocean Springs. It's not only Pascagoula. There's bald eagles everywhere.

Artistic license

• The blessing poster is beautiful, but if I remember right, the Harrison County Sheriff's helicopter has been assisting in dropping the wreaths for about 17 years, not the Coast Guard, which I believe is the one pictured.

Quit speculating

• It's about time our government did something about the oil price. It went up just on the fact that someone speculates. That's the only reason it's going up. Get rid of them and the oil will stay where it's at.

My, how you've grown

• What have you done to the length of the Sun Herald? It's grown so that my eyes can't see the top and my stomach can't prop the bottom.

Fountain of youth

• I had a young lady ask me the other day how I stay looking so young. Two words, sweetheart: Don't smoke.
