-- Get over yourself and deliver
Is everyone in the country as fed up with these presidential debates as I am? They've been going on for months and months and months. Now New Orleans wants to have one, too. All they do is get up and sit around and talk about each other. I want to know what they are going to do. They haven't said a word in the world about what they are going to do when they get in office. It's always me, me, me, and you, you, you, something bad about them. I've had enough of them. How about everybody else?
Register cell phones for alerts
You had an article recently about reverse 911 calling, about the sheriff's department calling about emergencies like a jail escape or a tornado or something, and have your cell phones listed. Could you all publish that phone number again? I would like to get it. I work nights and my wife is home with our kids, so I'd appreciate it very much.
Get the IRS involved
About the cheating gas pumps, she needs to call the IRS, because those pumps are supposed to be calibrated. If they are not, IRS can get them.
Have a heart; we're hungry
If you are ordering for 20 people, don't go through the drive-through at McDonald's. Go in and get your order.
Noisy cats = safe birds
Nice cat owners put bells on their cats. This gives our feathered friends a fair chance for survival. Viva all birds.
A pox on multi-taskers
I just read the Sound Off of the Day where they just met 10 cars talking on cell phones and texting, I saw something better than that, I saw a man eating fast food, had his cell phone jammed between his neck and his ear, his little poodle dog hanging out the window, driving down Pass Road; now, that is the worst case I have seen.
Bad cats go to jail
Here's what to do about cats getting the bluebirds; call Animal Control at 897-1399 and ask for a cage. I did, and caught about six cats and sent them to the shelter.
Train yourself
Here's a piece of advice for people at railroad tracks: Stop, look and listen for trains. Thank you very much.
Why keep Canada busy?
I am concerned about the license tag shortage. Two years ago I read in the Sun Herald the tags were made by prisoners and cost the state was about 25 cents per tag. I was shocked how cheap they were; now I am reading they are made in Canada. Why aren't our prisoners being kept busy making them? To have them made in Canada and shipped here has to be more than 25 cents each. Any clarification please?
Anchor SS Camille in Jones Park
To the person who suggested moving the SS Camille to Jones Park, I salute you. What a great idea to keep a part of history and continue to let visitors from all over the country enjoy it. Gulfport needs this. Biloxi has the Katrina memorial. It looks like Grass Lawn is going away. Let's hope our history does not continue to disappear piece by piece.
Plan for traffic, please!
I think the new "Promenade" in D'Iberville is great and will provide many jobs and economic improvements for the city. However, I also think it will be yet another mess, traffic-wise, in D'Iberville - much like the disaster in the Wal-Mart shopping center. I hope the city officials have learned their lesson and will think of a better plan for the traffic.
