Thank God

• It's raining in Biloxi and thank God for rain. Thank God for sunshine. Thank God for snow. Thank God for ice. Thank God for almost everything. Thank God for the flowers we have in May in Mississippi.

Safe bet

• Yay, Sun Herald. Thank you, thank you. I love your headline: "Casinos beat the cheats." Will you please get that message out? You've printed Sound Offs before from me about people being stupid. Do you think the casinos are stupid? Look at them! Do you think those things are built by people who are cheated? The problem is, people believe things like that movie "21." They actually think they can do this. And then there's other shows like "Breaking Vegas." They watch these shows and then they come in the casinos and we have to bust them. Then they can't figure out what they did wrong and then they go home and try to figure it out and come back and try it again.

Unsafe pet

• Please don't be misled about the article about the friendly coyote that plays with pets. There have been three coyotes that have been roaming the area between St. Peter and St. George for a few months. They have already killed some pets. In a pack of three, they can be a real threat to a larger pet. Coyotes are not pet friendly.

Stay tuned

• The big switch is a big bummer. The announcements we're being bombarded with about the big switch to digital TV broadcasting are wrong and misleading. That's right. They're wrong. First, they all say if you have cable and satellite, then you don't have to do anything. Cable One will confirm that if you have an analog TV, you will need a converter to see a picture. Second, the boxes will not upgrade your TV to digital, but actually downgrade the digital signal to analog. It's a government-backed boondoggle to benefit the TV company.

Toot-toot, it's a tug

• In regard to that article about the SS Camille: I guess that guy's not from around here. That's not a shrimp boat. It's a tugboat. It's not a shrimp boat. I guess he's not from around here. He better look into his history on that boat.

Pack it in, smokers

• Why don't we just outlaw the sale of tobacco in the state? Then they won't have to worry about that tax and we'll just have a lot of people running around on withdrawals. Just outlaw the sale of them.

Thanks for veterans' history

• I want everyone on the Coast to know what MGCCC, Chevron, Keesler Federal and Jeff Lawson at WLOX did for the WWII veterans here on the Coast by honoring them at a ceremony of appreciation banquet. There are 1,100 WWII veterans that die daily and the MGCCC program was a veterans' history project to establish these veterans as true heroes from the Coast. Thank you.

Give back the bike

• This is in response to the person who stole the bike from the blind person: You are one very sick person to do something like that to a blind person. How you can look in the mirror in the morning and face your own reflection is beyond me. You may be able to do that, but just remember this one thing: God knows all, and God sees all. Search your conscience, if you even have one, and do the right thing, and return this person's bike. You will feel a whole lot better, and become a better person in the long run. Have a heart.

Once a tug, now junk

• About putting that junk of Hurricane Camille in Jones Park: Please don't do that. We don't need Jones Park littered with junk. Finally Gulfport is doing something nice with it. Let's not litter it with junk like that boat. Thank you.
