Precious memories
On Nov. 3 I was leaving Freckles on U.S. 90. I placed the cupcakes in my car on the floor board on the passenger side and forgot my wallet on the roof of my car. The next thing I know, I heard a thump. I looked back in my rear view mirror and saw my wallet hit the ground on U.S. 90. I walked up and down U.S. 90 for more than two-and-a-half hours. I found a few pictures here and there but not my wallet. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, I got up early in the morning to go the DMV to get a new driver’s license. After standing in line, I got my driver’s license and was about to go home when I received a phone call. Someone had dropped my wallet and all of its contents at the D’Iberville Post Office. Thank you to that special stranger.
Here’s hoping
I sure hope no one has to evacuate from Pass Christian. Both evacuation routes, Menge and Espy are closed at U.S. 90.
Here’s an idea
Chuckled when I read about the guy who was dumping his AARP membership because AARP was backing the health-care bill. Hey, fella, why not cancel all your doctor’s appointments while you’re at it? The American Medical Association (your doctors) are also backing it, but they can’t know anything, right?
No pets!
I have attended all Peter Anderson Festivals and enjoyed them all. This last one was wonderful until I got in my car and discovered dog doo on my shoe. Had to wash the mat and pedals in the car and clean my shoe. I will miss all future festivals until Ocean Springs bans dogs from the festival. When you are among tens of thousands of people it is quite difficult to spot a mess. The festivals are no place for pets.
Get it straight
In reference to the article in Nov. 9, “Coast Guard making waves,” this is from an old Coast Guard sailor, and you must have been asleep in World War II. The USCG was in the foreign coastal invasions in every major battle in World War II from the invasion on D-Day in the Atlantic to the end of the last invasion in the Pacific, Okinawa. So get your information correct. As for the USCG being only for our coastal U.S. I was there and did not see our coast until the war was over.
Win some, lose some
Several years ago I quit AARP, because I didn’t like their politics. Thanks to their health-care endorsement, I just joined up again.
Sure thing
When I got up Tuesday morning I did not know if my electricity would be on or if there would be garbage pickup due to Ida. The one thing that I was confident of was the Sun Herald would be delivered to my home on Palmer Drive. I was not disappointed.
