Debt decisions

Republicans claim the health care bill being debated costs too much and will burden our children and grandchildren. The health care bill is estimated to cost about a trillion dollars over 10 years. These Republicans with Dick Cheney leading the charge want us to increase troop and expenditures in Afghanistan for the next 10 or 20 years at a cost that is estimated to be about a trillion dollars. We will have spent about a trillion dollars in Iraq before we get out of there. Seems to me our children and grandchildren will be saddled with great debt. The only question is will it be for health care or needless wars.

Bring your own

I cannot believe a parent would complain about having to supply his child with paper for school. Are we not responsible for anything? In my experience, children have always been responsible for their own paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, etc. How some have come to rely on government for everything.

Turn out the lights. . .

The best thing about baseball is . . . it’s over!

Overstayed welcome

So the New York Yankees are finally back in possession of a World Series trophy. Big whoop! Most people have long forgotten about baseball because the high school, college and NFL seasons are already reaching the halfway point. Can’t wait to hear of a World Series canceled due to snow.

Do what’s right

While the mayor and city council of Biloxi spar with one another, the citizens’ safety becomes the real concern. Come on, lady and gentlemen, lets set aside our egos for once and get a new police chief in place. The citizens and police officers deserve and should demand that a resolution be found.

Please attend

The new season of the Metropolitan Opera at the Cinemark Theatre has begun and again, next to no advertisement about the season opera’s are published. Nov. 7, at noon, is the third opera showing of the season, “Turandot.” Please attend, and watch movie listings in the Sun Herald for future dates. Low attendance may cancel this event.

All God’s children

Regarding the person who was talking about the churches, aren’t we all the children of God? And it’s our God, not my God.

Easy solution

The Diamondhead exit problem could be very easily solved with a three-way stop sign.

No food

Why does the airport snack bar close at 7:30 p.m.? I recently lost my husband and went to the airport to pick up family members. I arrived early and was hungry. There were other people there waiting on flights to arrive, and I am sure I was not the only person hungry.
