SUN HERALDJuly 17, 2014

Anyone wanting to run for the open seat on the Pascagoula City Council has until Aug. 27 to qualify.

The Ward 1 position opened up when Councilman Larry Taylor submitted his resignation, effective Aug. 1.

The ward encompasses the central part of the city, north of U.S. 90 and south to Ingalls Avenue roughly between Pascagoula and Martin streets.

The council will declare a vacancy on Aug. 5, and a special election is set Sept. 16. If necessary, the runoff date is Sept. 30.
