Favre for governor? Mississippians do like him

Posted on July 17, 2014

Public Policy Polling's latest poll in Mississippi finds Gov. Phil Bryant in the driver's seat in next year's elections. Two Democrats, Attorney General Jim Hood and Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley, have positive approval numbers but neither is very close to Bryant in head-to-head matchups.

And, Brett Favre has better approval numbers than any of them.

Republicans also like Mike Huckabee as their presidential nominee 25 percent to 16 percent for Jeb Bush, 11 percent for Ted Cruz, 8 percent for Chris Christie, 6 percent each for Rand Paul and Paul Ryan, 5 percent for Marco Rubio, 3 percent for Rick Santorum and 2 percent for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

A couple of surprises: MIssissippians support an increase in the minimum wage and an expansion of Medicaid.
