Man accused of punching ER nurse

BILOXI -- A 59-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly punching an emergency room nurse, police Sgt. O'Neil Adams said.

Officers responded to a disorderly patient call at the Biloxi Regional Medical Center about 4 a.m. Tuesday. Adams said Charlie Earl Daniel of Biloxi punched a nurse in the face and attempted to kick several other attending medical personnel before the officer arrived.

Adams said Daniel was arrested earlier in the morning on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant but had complained of pain while being booked and was taken to the hospital.

Daniel was arrested on a charge of felony simple assault on medical personnel and several misdemeanor charges, including public intoxication, disturbance of a business and public profanity. He was held at the Harrison County jail in lieu of $100,815 in bonds set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
