BILOXI -- The Southern League released its schedule for the 2015 season and the first home game in the Biloxi stadium is April 20.
The team, which is playing in Huntsville this season, is scheduled to open April 9 with a five-game series in Pensacola that is followed by five games in Mobile starting April 15.
The first home stand is against Jacksonville before the team goes back on the road to Mississippi.
Tim Bennett, one of the team owners, said the schedule gives the team and schedule a target "to move forward diligently on a project of this magnitude."
The team's agreement with the city requires that Biloxi will pay a $10,000 fee for every home game that can't be played in the stadium.
"As a team we're working feverishly and around the clock to do all we have to do to make sure this project is finished on time and to the satisfaction of the city and the community," Bennett said.
The team and city officials are looking at ways to continue to get the price of the stadium down and attract additional revenue streams to satisfy the debt service as well as exploring cost-cutting measures on the stadium, he said.
"The city and it's administration have been great to work with to figure out how to get the stadium done on time and in budget," Bennett said.
The Biloxi Council learned of the schedule release after their regular meeting Tuesday and Council President Kenny Glavan said he hopes the league will work with the city if the stadium isn't done in time for the first home games.
