Lamar County inmate walks away from work detail

— Lamar County sheriff's deputies are searching for an inmate that walked off from a work detail.

Sheriff Danny Rigel tells WDAM TV (http://bit.ly/1ymL2V2 ) Matthew Wayne Thompson also allegedly stole a county vehicle Tuesday near Bellevue and Highway 98. The vehicle is a white Ford, 15 passenger van with Lamar County written on the side and pulling a 12 foot black trailer.

He says Thompson was sentenced to the Lamar County work program Monday for receiving stolen property.

Rigel says the inmate was wearing an orange shirt, with inmate worker on the back, and blue jeans.
