Man dies when vehicle collides with horse

— Authorities say a 55-year-old Chickasaw County man has died as the results of injuries he received after his vehicle hit a horse on a county road west of Houston.

Emergency crews were called to County Road 20 in the Thorn Community about 3 a.m. Monday after a small pickup hit a horse. Investigators say the driver was taken to Trace Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Chickasaw County Coroner Andy Harmon identified the driver as Bobby Gene Long of Thorn. Harmon tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/1rdkbtC) Long was traveling north and headed to work when the accident occurred.

The horse was killed in the accident.
