Veteran of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2539, installs 2014-15 officers

Elected officers of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2539, Alfred Allman, Gulfport, were installed for 2014-15.

The installing officers were Johnnie Richard, VFW National Council member; and Mary Underhill, past Auxiliary and District One President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Elected VFW Officers are Lewis Wormeley, commander; Mike Clayton, senior vice Commander; Ron Wade, junior vice commander; Jim Underhill, quartermaster; J.R. Gillis, chaplain; Ken Saxon, judge advocate; and Johnny Bankston, surgeon.

Officers for the Ladies Auxiliary are Sue Richard, president; Jan Farrell, senior vice president; Pam Dalton, junior vice president; Karen Wilkinson, treasurer; Rachel Clayton, secretary; Mary Underhill, conductress; Linda Easton, chaplain; Peggy Saxon, guard; and, Carrie Rau, patriot instructor.

The organization promotes programs for veterans and their families, Americanism, cancer aid and research, hospital, legislative, youth, and various scholarship programs, including the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest and Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest for high school students and Patriot's Pen Contest for middle high students.
