Gulfport man arrested on felony DUI charge

Doward Eugene Gardner, 47, was arrested July 14 on a charge of felony driving under the influence.

GULFPORT -- Police arrested Doward Eugene Gardner Jr. on a felony drunken-driving charge early Monday after determining he has two prior DUI convictions.

A patrol officer stopped him on a traffic violation about 11:47 p.m. Sunday at Pass Road and Jody Nelson Drive. Gardner appeared to be impaired and further investigation revealed his DUI convictions, police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said.

Gardner, 47, of Gulfport, was held at the Harrison County jail.

Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner set bond at $15,000.
