Even "slow weeks" in South Mississippi have a lot to offer, in the way of good food and entertainment.
For starters, the second annual Taste of the Bay will feature some of the best eats from restaurants in the D'Iberville/St. Martin area. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the D'Iberville Town Green, 10004 Central Ave.

On Thursday, the Long Beach LIVE! open-air, free concert series will feature The Eves, beginning at 7 p.m. at Harper McCaughan Town Green, 301 Jeff Davis Ave. in downtown. The Eves members, all from South Mississippi, are rhythm section duo Wayne Mott and Tommy Mims with singer/songwriter Justin LaFramboise. Their sound is described as "atmospheric and pensive."
In Ocean Springs on Saturday, Tim Shelton, the founder of the Bluegrass band NewFound Road, will debut his solo performance at 7 p.m. at the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center, 1600 Government St.
A Mary C. press release describes Shelton this way: "Tim's soulful voice has won the hearts of fans with his renditions of 'Houston (I'm Coming to See You)' and 'Ain't No Sunshine.' Although his musical roots are gospel and bluegrass, Tim has blended all different types of music to showcase his musical talents that have entertained audiences across the nation. Music lovers across the genres will enjoy this concert, which will be a combination of gospel, bluegrass, country and rock. Do not miss the wonder vocals of this Southern crooner."
