Rinker's project benefits Bethesda Free Clinic

Caroline Rinker, a sophomore at St. Patrick Catholic High School, completed a service project that benefitted the Bethesda Free Clinic.

With the help from St. Alphonsus CYO leaders Suzanne and Scott Hawkins and friends, Grace Hudson and Claire and Hannah Gautier, Rinker held a spaghetti supper at the KC Hall at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She and her mother cooked the spaghetti and more than 60 supper were served, raising $300 for the clinic.

She is the daughter of Jeannie and Ron Rinker of Ocean Springs.

Ocean Springs TOPS group hands out honors

Fay Couch won Best Loser honors in TOPS MS 0281, Ocean Springs, at the chapter's June 5 meeting in the Ocean Springs Church of Christ.

Ester LaCroix and Eunice Tamdah tied for May Kops of the Month, and Mary Adamo won Angel of the Month title. Dale Wirtz earned the 40-pound loss award, Betty Galliher and Mary Ann Adamo won 50-point KOPS honors, and LaCroix received the six consecutive week below weight goal KOPS award.

Helen Bieda was awarded a special certificate and gold medallion for maintaining her physician-set KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) goal weight for 25 consecutive years. Earning 12 consecutive week attendance awards were Joan Crow, Maxine Comeaux, Joan Wilson, LaCroix and Couch, and a vacation loss award went to Diana Powell.

Eighteen members received recognition for weight lost after the Mother's Day holiday, and 15 members walked a total of 531 miles in May.
