ttisbell@sunherald.comJuly 13, 2014

Moon gazers saw the first of three "supermoons" Saturday night. The moon gets its larger than life appearance due to its closer proximity to the earth this month. During this time, the moon will appear 13.3 percent larger than normal.

The next Supermoon will appear Aug. 10 and the third on Sept. 9.
