Board suggests adding tennis court at park

The Associated PressJuly 12, 2014

— A DeSoto County parks board is asking the Board of Supervisors to put a tennis court at Eudora Community Park.

Supervisor Lee Caldwell says the Eudora park already has a busy playground and ball field.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/1oN7hza) DeSoto Recreational District Commission member Wayne Spell recommended this week a master plan that includes one tennis court with options for more, and a pavilion with dressing areas and restroom facilities.

The supervisors are expected to consider the proposal July 21.

Officials say a tennis court will cost $20,000 to $25,000.

Parks board member Ray Laughter says if a court goes through, "everyone will want to practice on it" and he urged supervisors to be thinking of a use policy.
