Biloxi man accused of trying to set woman, house on fire
BILOXI -- Police responding to a domestic complaint Thursday morning arrived at a Biloxi home to find a man had poured gasoline on a woman, a pile of clothes and throughout a back room during an argument, Detective Sgt. Donnie Dobbs said.
Officers intervened before the situation worsened, Dobbs said.
Police arrested Stanley Wallace Blackwell, 38, on charges of felony attempted arson fourth degree and felony simple domestic assault after two convictions.
Dobbs said someone who lives in the 600 block of Thelma Drive reported hearing an argument shortly before 6:15 a.m.
Police learned Blackwell was wanted on a warrant for another felony domestic assault charge involving the same woman.
He was booked at the Harrison County jail on bonds that total $160,000.
Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set bonds on the new charges at $150,000. A bond of $10,000 had been set on the warrant for the other assault charge.

Man accused in assault on 9-year-old son's mother
GULFPORT -- Authorities arrested a 36-year-old Biloxi man Thursday accused of assaulting his 9-year-old son's mother.
Sgt. Damon McDaniel said Anthony Dawan Craig's arrest stems from a March 16 incident at a woman's home on North Street. He said officers responded to a domestic disturbance in progress and later learned Craig arrived at the woman's home unannounced and attempted to take their son from her.
McDaniel said a fight escalated and Craig choked and punched the woman. Police arrested Craig on a charge of simple domestic assault and he bonded out of jail March 17. McDaniel said Craig's charge was upgraded to a felony domestic assault charge about a week later and the woman initiated a criminal affidavit against him. He was arrested Thursday and held at the Harrison County jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.
McDaniel said he was unsure of the exact relationship between Craig and the woman.
