RKBM REAL ESTATE RENDERING

Sal & Mookie's New York Pizza and Ice Cream Place got the approval of the Biloxi Architectural and Historical Review Commission Thursday. The restaurant will be built just northwest of the Biloxi Town Green on Lameuse Street and will have architectural elements reminiscent of the Friendship House and Biloxi buildings destroyed by hurricanes.

Jeff Elder, who represents Denmark Design in Biloxi, said the owners want to complete construction by next spring, in time for the opening of the baseball stadium a couple of blocks away. The restaurant will be elevated to meet flood elevations and will have an elevator. He said it will seat about 250 people. The owners, RKBM Real Estate, will have a license agreement with the Sal & Mookie's restaurant in Jackson and will be independent operators.
