RICHARD VERMEULEN: Worried for my country as never before

July 10, 2014

Now, in the twilight years of my life, I have never been so worried about my country.

Illegal immigrants are pouring into the border states and government leaders are going there and welcoming them. We have millions of them working the system and getting benefits.

They will be the majority of our population within 10 years, so you can see that the political party which supports them the most will get their votes.

Our military is being torn apart by the current administration.

Oh yes, we have billions of dollars being spent on defense. However, recently we have seen the best of our military leaders being retired or replaced because of not going along with the current commander in chief.

Our navy is stretched thin and we lose many good people because of longer deployments and being away from their loved ones for so long.

We are once again getting embroiled in the Middle East when it didn't take a rocket scientist to see that we could not leave there and expect it to stay peaceful after we did.

We have people who are not respectful to others as we once were.

We have gangs in our major cities and major drug problems.

We have so many corrupt politicians that it would be laughable if it weren't so serious.
