DOUGLAS MacCULLAGH: McDaniel should try to change laws

July 7, 2014

It seems Mr. Chris McDaniel is showing his fighting style. I had hoped for something more effective.

He promised to fix Washington, which means bending two unwieldy groups, the House and Senate, to his will. He would need a more effective negotiating technique than petulance to make any progress in D.C.

He now seems bent on driving as many people away from the Republican Party as he possibly can. If he wants to demonstrate some legislative leadership, he should sit down, shut up and work to change Mississippi election laws. The example he is showing us now, though, would make him a contender for the title of Least Effective Member of the Senate.

I think it is time for Mr. McDaniel to pack up his marbles and go home.
