Gulf Coast is ranked No. 9 nationally in preseason football poll

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is ranked No. 9 nationally in the preseason Dirty 30 football rankings, which was released Sunday.

Gulf Coast is coming off an 8-2 season.

The poll, which has run from 2005-14, includes teams from the NJCAA and California football schools.

Defending national champion East Mississippi (12-0 in 2013) is ranked No. 1.

Gulf Coast is the next highly ranked Mississippi team.

Copiah-Lincoln is ranked No. 14, and Jones County is ranked No. 26.

Itawamba and Hinds are Mississippi schools who are listed on the bubble.

Rounding out the Top 5 are No. 2 City College of San Francisco, No. 3 Riverside, Calif., No. 4 Butler County, Kansas, and No. 5 Navarro of Texas.
