Gulfport High School's Marine Corps Junior ROTC won the Junior Olympic 3-Position Air Rifle Championships in June in Ohio.
The Admirals team won state in May and qualified for two national competitions, both held at Camp Perry, Ohio, June 24-25.
The team competed in the National Junior Olympic 3-Position Air Rifle Championships and the Civilian Marksmanship Program Air Rifle National Championships.
Gulfport qualified two four-person teams for both competitions, winning the Junior Olympic Championship with a score of 2,184, including 72 bull's-eyes, and set a new record for Marine Corps JROTC teams for 3x20. The winning team was Brittany Robins, Ryan Cook, Jillian Tyler and Desia Tyler.
Robins was the high shooter during qualifications phase with a 561 score, including 27 bull's-eyes.
The second team competing for Gulfport was Rebecca Cook, Hunter Burnett, Matthew Edwards and Hannah Eades.
Gulfport finished third in the CMP Nationals, just two points out of second place in a field of 37 teams.
