Oceanport, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Lochte, coming off a poor effort four weeks ago, tries for redemption Sunday in the $500,000 United Nations Handicap at Monmouth Park.

The 1 3/8-mile United Nations is a Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" race. A victory will earn the winner an automatic berth in the 1 1/2-mile Turf on Nov. 1 at Santa Anita.

Trained by Marcus Vitali, Lochte will break from post 9 in the 10-horse field with regular rider Orlando Bocachica in the saddle.

The 4-year-old gelding, owned by Crossed Sabres Farm, was the 2-1 favorite on June 8 in the Monmouth Stakes on the turf. After a wide trip during the 1 1/8- mile grass race, Lochte finished 13th in a 14-horse field.

The gelding began 2014 at Gulfstream Park where he was third and first in consecutive allowance races. He won the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap at 39-1 followed by a second at Santa Anita in the Kilroe Mile and third to Horse of the Year Wise Dan in Keeneland's Maker's 46 Mile.

Lochte has banked $378,507 with three wins, three seconds and four thirds in 13 career starts.
