D'IBERVILLE -- Efforts are underway to help pay cremation expenses for a disabled D'Iberville man who died Wednesday, three days after his mother's death.
Hilbert "Bubba" Stepro, 50, lived with his mother along with his two teenagers and his wife, a homemaker and full-time caregiver. He was an insulin-dependent diabetic who lost a leg due to his disease, said Mark Ross, family friend.
Mary Stepro, 67, was the widow of a veteran and her funeral expenses are covered. She died Sunday. Ross said the family wants to hold a joint funeral service at the VA National Cemetery in Biloxi but arrangements are pending based on payment for Bubba Stepro's cremation.
Marshall Funeral Home of Biloxi has donated an urn, a spokeswoman said. Donations toward Bubba Stepro's cremation costs can be mailed or taken to the funeral home at 825 Division Street, Biloxi 39530. Or donations can be made by debit or credit card by calling the funeral home at 432-2495.
Before becoming disabled, Stepro made deliveries for Bayside Furniture & Appliances in D'Iberville, Ross said.
