BILOXI -- Authorities arrested a 20-year-old man from China on Wednesday on a charge of sexual battery.

Detective Nick Sonnier said a woman in the water near the 900 block of Beach Boulevard was heard screaming for help. Witnesses said they shined a light into the water and saw the woman struggling to get away from the man.

Sonnier said the woman was taken to an area hospital and treated for injuries consistent with sexual assault.

He said the man was arrested and held at the Harrison County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain. Sonnier said he was also held for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

Sonnier said anyone with more information on the incident contact police at 392-0641 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
