Americans not feeling so free heading into Indpendance Day

Posted on July 2, 2014

Americans are less and less satisfied with their freedom to choose what they do with their lives, according to a Gallup poll released this week.

And, the U.S. is no longer among the top countries in satisfaction with freedom. Gallup has been tracking the issue since 2006 when the U.S. was ranked among the countries with the highest level of satisfaction. But the U.S. has seen a 12-point slide since then and is now ranked 36th among the 102 countries surveyed. No. 1 is New Zealand; Australia is 2nd.
