GULFPORT -- A Pass Christian man was charged with DUI after he was involved in several hit-and-run accidents along U.S. 90 on Wednesday morning, police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said.

McDaniel said the driver, Chris Hynes, 53, suffered a fractured pelvis and was taken to a hospital.

Officers originally responded to a hit-and-run accident near 15th Street and U.S. 90 about 9:23 a.m.

While en route, McDaniel said, officers received another report that a Hummer H2 hit a 2004 Lincoln LS and continued eastbound on U.S. 90.

About five minutes later, McDaniel said, officers learned the H2 was involved in a crash at DeBuys Road and 90. He said the investigation revealed the H2 rear-ended an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped in the left lane, as well as a 2013 Nissan Altima.

McDaniel said in a chain reaction, the Altima was pushed into a 2008 Mercury Sable, a 2008 Dodge Avenger and a 2014 Volkswagen Passat.

He said the drivers of the Altima and Sable complained of pain and were taken to hospitals. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, McDaniel said.

Hynes was issued a summons on a charge of driving under the influence, second offense, and a traffic ticket for no proof of insurance.
