GULFPORT -- Police arrested 43-year-old Randy Dean Haas, of Bay St. Louis, Monday on a charge of felony shoplifting.

Police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said Haas reportedly stole about $1,500 worth of fishing reels from Academy Sports at Crossroads Parkway in multiple thefts between June 12 and June 23. He said each time Haas made a theft, he fled the store and entered a vehicle in the parking lot. McDaniel said the thefts were caught on the store's surveillance system.

The store's management initiated an affidavit against Haas and McDaniel said he was later arrested in Pass Christian on an unrelated shoplifting charge. He said Hass was served the arrest warrant Monday while being held at the Harrison County jail. McDaniel said Haas' $25,000 bond was set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.

He said the investigation is ongoing.
