A Gulfport man who was driving a stolen motorcycle injured his hip Tuesday morning when he was struck by a truck, Sgt. Damon McDaniel said.

The man, who has not been identified, was driving a 2002 Honda Shadow southbound on Mississippi 605 when he was hit by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado exiting a business near College Street, McDaniel said.

After authorities responded to the accident, McDaniel said, they noticed the motorcycle was stolen about a week ago and was entered by Harrison County deputies into the National Crime Information Center database.

McDaniel said the motorcycle driver broke his hip and was taken to an area hospital. The truck driver was not injured but received traffic tickets for no driver's license, no proof of insurance and an expired license plate.

McDaniel said Gulfport firefighters and American Medical Response personnel responded to the accident.

He said Harrison County deputies are investigating the stolen motorcycle. The man who was driving the motorcycle has not been arrested.
