Rotary Club of Bay St. Louis names Jim Collins Rotarian of the Year

The Rotary Club of Bay St. Louis swore in its new board of directors at its annual awards celebration Thursday and named member Jim Collins the club's Rotarian of the Year.

Collins, the marketing and public relations director for Goodwill of South Mississippi, is the club sergeant-at-arms and regularly hosts membership orientations.

Tom Carlton, marketing director at Hancock Medical, received the Rotary Vocational Award.

Samantha Walley of Comcepts and Christine deBouchel of the Bay St. Louis Police Department were named Outstanding New Rotarians.

A special service award was presented to Secretary Terie Velardi, a real estate appraiser, and Presidential Citations were awarded to Susie Veglia with the Port and Harbor Commission and certified public accountant David Bassett for their dedication and participation to club events.

Bassett, dentist Dr. David Tuminello, auto-sales professional Cynthia Lowe and SouthGroup Insurance's Angela Zeringue were named Paul Harris Fellows.

Attorney and club President Steve Benvenutti handed over the gavel to incoming President Aissa Wiggins of the Silver Slipper Casino.

The annual awards celebration was held atop the Bay St. Louis Parking Garage at the Longfellow Civic Center.
