BL Harbert International building Ole Miss' new basketball arena

BL Harbert International of Birmingham, Ala., was chosen to build Ole Miss' new basketball arena.

Construction for the $68.9 million deal, 9,600-seat arena has already begun and is expected to be completed to host Ole Miss games in 2016.

The new 230,000-square-foot facility will include the basketball court, premier locker room suites for players and coaching staff, training facilities, a Courtside Club, All-American Suites, and the Arena Club.

Kansas City-based global architect AECOM is the architect of the new Ole Miss Arena that will be named for the Touhy family of "The Blind Side" fame.

"We are honored to build a marquee project for Ole Miss that will have a lasting impact on a college campus, and its students for the next 50 years. BL Harbert looks forward to working with AECOM and the University in providing the students with another great SEC Arena," Gary W. Savage, BL Harbert President of U.S. Operations said in a statement.
