Sound Off for June 25

June 24, 2014

Acceptable excuse?

I wonder if I owe tax's this season if using the excuse my computer crashed will keep me out of trouble?

Fast work

The new Waffle House in west Biloxi (near Surf Side) went up really fast. Maybe the city should get that crew to build the baseball stadium.

More police, please

How can a person feel uncomfortable with too many police at an airport? I wish they were everywhere, readily available, the more the merrier.

Stop it

It is 8:29 p.m. Monday, June 23. Today alone I have 39 phone calls from the two candidates. This has to stop. What can you do, state legislators?

No more

I am so over all these continuous phone calls. I have received nine calls today. Leave me alone. I will vote, and I will vote for the person I want to vote for. stop the continuous annoying calls. There should be a law to prevent the constant annoying calls. I am beginning to totally dislike/hate elections. Stop it.

Obstruction of view

A couple of weeks ago you people were complaining about driving with a handicapped placard on the rear-view mirror. Actually in most states, if not all, it is classified as "An obstruction to vision" and is a violation. Sometimes overlooked by patrolmen, they may issue a violation if they feel it is an obstruction. That goes for anything hanging on the rearview mirror. Lots of people around here don't read the driver's handbook, apparently.

Quit calling

I am sure I am not the only one who is sick of these political calls. My phone has not rung this much since my teenagers left home in the mid-1980s. I am never going to vote on someone who sends computerized calls. If you want my vote, call me personally and tell me what you are going to do to help Mississippi. I do not care about your negative comments about your opponent. Tell me about you. I just might cross the line in voting in the general election.

Compromise?

Do you want proof the battle between the political parties has to end? Here it is: In a TV ad, Chris McDaniel said he is "…not going to pander to the liberal Democrats." If he should win the election, what does he plan to do about the roughly 40-50 percent of his constituents who will be liberal Democrats? Is he not going to be their representative too? Remember when a hopeful candidate wanted to brag that he could work both sides of the aisle; it was a good thing. Contrast that with the extreme posturing that was blamed for the U.S. financial downgrade. You can't run a country with representatives from 50 different states without negotiation and cooperation.
