GULFPORT -- Police arrested Steven Donald Posey, 49, and Purvis Marie Holloway, 56, both of Gulfport, Thursday after they reportedly stole more than $1,900 in purses from the Coach Outlet store, Sgt. Damon McDaniel said Tuesday.

McDaniel said Posey stole the purses and then fled the store and entered a Saturn Ion driven by Holloway. McDaniel said Posey got out of the vehicle, however, and fled on foot before being arrested by Gulfport's K-9 officers. He said Holloway was also stopped and arrested by responding officers.

McDaniel said Posey stole more than $2,300 in purses from the same outlet store the day before and was positively identified as the thief after Thursday's arrest.

Posey faces two counts of felony shoplifting, while Holloway was arrested on one count.

Posey and Holloway were held at the Harrison County jail in lieu of $20,000 and $10,000 bonds, respectively, set by Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner.

McDaniel said the investigation is ongoing.
