MSU's Lindgren earns All-American honors

Mississippi State junior left-handed pitcher Jacob Lindgren earned first-team All-America honors by Baseball America and second-team All-America accolades by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday.

Last week, the southpaw was drafted 55th overall by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft. In addition, the 2014 first-team All-Southeastern Conference performer was named a finalist for both the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award and the Olson Award.

Lindgren, who was a star at St. Stanislaus, led the SEC with an ERA of 0.55 against league competition.

Lindgren finished his 2014 campaign leading the nation with 16.3 strikeouts per nine innings and ranking first among all relievers with 100 total strikeouts.
