Georgia athlete commits to Southern Miss

Athlete Tez Parks of Hogansville, Ga., announced Friday on his Twitter account that he has committed to Southern Miss.

Parks wrapped up his prep career at Callaway High School, where he played quarterback. He's the type of athlete that could fill in at several different positions at USM.

He stands 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, and is rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com.

Parks also held offers from Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina State according to Scout.com.

The USM football staff has been fairly aggressive picking up late commitments this summer.

Former West Virginia running back Vernard Roberts and TCU quarterback Tyler Matthews have both indicated they plan on transferring to Southern Miss.

Roberts will be eligible to play this season and Parks should also be eligible.

Matthews, once considered one of the top pro-style quarterbacks out high school, would have to sit out a season if he does indeed transfer to USM.

Matthews, who saw little playing time at TCU, has two years of eligibility remaining.
