McDaniel: Prosecute to fullest extent of law

Posted on May 22, 2014

Senate candidate Chris McDaniel on Thursday released a statement on two men, one a Tea Party official the other a coach and teacher in Laurel, charged in connection with photographs taken of Sen. Thad Cochran's wife:

"As we have said since day one, the violation of the privacy of Mrs. Cochran is out of bounds for politics and is reprehensible. Any individuals who were involved in this crime should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

McDaniel has insisted he has had nothing to do with the incident.

Both Richard Sager and Mark Mayfield, the two men charged with conspiracy Thursday have made pro-McDaniel posts in social media.  Sager also faces a evidence tampering charge.

Mayfield is vice chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party and a board member of the Central Mississippi Tea Party. The Tea Party is a key supporter of McDaniel.
